Acoustic Louvers and Dampers

Acoustic Louvers

dB Noise Reduction® Inc engineers and produces a variety of fixed blade acoustic louvers that are designed to function as "short silencers" to aid in quietly ventilating equipment or areas that have very limited space, with thicknesses starting at 4" up to 24" (greater than 24" would require a silencer instead). Acoustic louvers work primarily by redirecting and absorbing sound downwards by utilizing absorptive media exposed on the underside of the louver blades. Selection of the correct louver for the application involves balancing the acoustic requirements with the allowable pressure drop (where applicable). Louvers can be ganged together to form a wall when required, and in special cases can be used with silencer to augment performance.

Dampers

Similar to louvers but with adjustable blades that can open/close slightly or completely, these are used to manage or restrict airflow, but are not an acoustical or noise control product. Because they are an important component in the airflow system, they are often integrated into the noise reduction equipment package.
