Data centers have incredible energy requirements for both powering and cooling the sensitive servers and equipment. Because they need high volume and uninterrupted energy, large backup or standby power generation systems must be connected to the facilities. Often these facilities are located in or near highly populated areas, and because they run 24 hours a day with high noise levels, they typically create a noise problem for neighbors. Many jurisdictions have noise ordinances that require lower noise levels especially at night, which requires data centers to have a noise reduction package.
